My Bio
I am SixxxBit, also known as Tristan Blink. I LOVE games, especially old or retro ones by today's standards. I started gaming since I was 2 years old. The first technical game that I played was the demo of Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped, for I had a Sampler Disk Vol.9 for the PS1. But the first full game I played was Spyro The Dragon, a couple months later. I asked my dad if I could get some of the games that I loved the most from the Sampler disk, and he ordered me Spyro The Dragon, and MediEvil.
I loved them both very much, and still have the disks to this day. They are both very good platformers and I treasure and cherish them very, very much. They brought such joy to my heart to be able to escape into a land of fantasy, treasure, and adventure! I would always love to come back from visiting my grandparents' house and coming home to hear my mom say: "Dad got you a new game, it's downstairs if you want to go see what it is!". I would race downstairs to see a brand new, perfect Sony PlayStation game just laying across the table, still in it's wrapping.
Through those days, I would receive such games as Twisted Metal III, Crash Team Racing, Crash Bandicoot 3, and much much more. Christmas time was a time to enjoy life in the world of games. Through the years of Christmas I received games such as, Crash Bash (my first Crash Bandicoot game), and Tomba!2: The Evil Swine Return. When I got Tomba! 2, I was surprised, I had never heard of it, and I wanted MediEvil II instead. But no, my little brother (we were 18 months apart), got MediEvil II.
I was so jealous, but then I realized as I played them, that MediEvil II, wasn't such a great game. It's difficulty had increased by FAR, and it took place in 1885 (boring), as the 1st game had taken place in 1345. Tomba!2 ended up being one of my favorite games of all time, even to this day, I play it ALL the time! Later on, when we were having dinner, we were waiting for my dad to come home from work. He then walked into the kitchen, and plopped a game inside a strange looking case right in front of me. I asked him what it was. He said it was the new Spyro The Dragon game for the PlayStation 2.
I was astonished, my jaw dropped. And I answered "But we don't have a PlayStation 2!" He said: "Now you do!". And Pulled out the brand new, in the box, Sony PlayStation 2. I could hardly contain my joy, me and my brother danced around on the kitchen floor in happiness. My dad said that he would set it up after we ate.
We ate so fast, it took about 2 minutes. We then raced downstairs, so I could play Spyro: Enter The Dragonfly. I know many people hated this game, but I loved it due to nostalgic memories of it. I popped it in, and I was so impressed that the graphics had improved so greatly! I played it until night when I told my dad: "We need a memory card for it! Or else we can't save!".
The next day we went to WalMart to pick up a memory card. Through the years, I noticed that the new PS2 games weren't as good as the PS1 games. I would always find myself playing PS1 games more often. I later bought Spyro The Dragon 2 & 3 for PS1, and Crash Bandicoot 2 from bins in GameStop. If only I knew that if after 2005, they would have stopped selling them, I would have bought every single game in those bins.
I was furious, when I found out they stopped carrying them. So now, because of today's crappy games. I decided to carry out into games before I was born. I now have an NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis, my dad's old Atari 2600, and my old PS1. Well, of course I have the newer consoles too!
I have the PS3 (I only bought it for MGS4), three PS2 slims, and a Game Cube.
For my 7th birthday I remember my dad and Liam (my little brother) getting me Metal Gear Solid (abbreviated as MGS or MGS1). I loved that game so damn much, since I played the demo since I was 2 end on end, I was soooo excited to finally receive the full game (even though I had the MGS2 before MGS1 and I got confused). I have been a fan of Metal Gear Solid since the first one came out! Metal Gear Solid is a perfectly good example that a good game doesn't have to get raped by other game companies through time. On the PS3, MGS4 is the only good game I can think of on the new system.
Through time, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro The Dragon, have been taken away through Sierra. The new games that they make for it are so shitty it's ridiculous. It makes me cry to realize that I can't have my old, childhood heroes back. Naughty Dog (Crash Bandicoot's makers) are now making Jak & Daxter games. Insomniac (Spyro's makers) are now making Ratchet & Clank games.
It's sad. Not a single Crash or Spyro game has been made since 2008; period. They're dying. But atleast I can still play their old games. In my mind, I can always see them again.
